Overview

This course will explore tubing fundamentals including identifying the proper materials for the application, how to use the proper tools, and calculating material requirements for a job.  This course will also cover flare fittings and copper and compressing fittings.

There are no prerequisites for this course.

Objectives

 Explain the difference between piping and tubing, identify the proper tubing material to use, and calculate tube sizes.

Recognize the proper tools you’ll need to bend tubing, calculate how much tubing you’ll need for the run, and make a bend with a manual tube bender. 

Identify different types of fittings and describe the steps required to install soldered copper and compression fittings with a single or split ferrule.

Identify what applications use flare fittings, recall the required tools you’ll need, and describe the steps to install a flared fitting.

Recognize what to take into consideration when planning a tubing run and identify different tubing supports.
