The specified project file could not be opened. The error message indicates one of the following conditions:

The FactoryTalk Directory does not contain the Logical Name: <Logical Name>

The project file is protected by a specific Logical Name that does not exist in the

FactoryTalk

Network Directory. Contact the security administrator to correct the problem.

The FactoryTalk Directory does not contain the Permission Set: <Permission Set>

The project file is protected by a specific permission set that does not exist in the

FactoryTalk

Network Directory. Contact the security administrator to correct the problem.

Access denied

Check with Security Administrator to verify access to the file.

The project file (ACD, L5K, L5X) is bound to a specific Security Authority or is protected by a specific permission set or Logical Name. To open the file, log onto the

FactoryTalk

Network Directory to which the project file is bound, or contact the security administrator to obtain access.

File not found

The file does not exist. If you selected a file from your most recent list under the

File

menu, it was deleted or moved since the last time you had it open. It will remain in the most recent list until it is replaced by other files as you open them.

Path doesn’t exist

You entered an incorrect path or the file does not exist in the specified path. Re-enter the correct path.

Not a project file

The file is not a

Logix Designer

application project file. Select a file with the .ACD extension. If you have files using this extension in your project directory that are not

Logix Designer

application projects, they should be moved or deleted to avoid confusion.

Invalid file extension

Project file names must use the .ACD extension; import/export files of entire projects must use the .L5K or .L5X extension. The

Logix Designer

application prevents creating project files with extensions other than .ACD, .L5K, .L5X, .AML, or .RDF. The application cannot open files that do not have one of these file extensions.

Project file too old

The file was created with an older, unsupported version of the

Logix Designer

application. This file cannot be converted. If you have the version of the application that it was created with, export it to an ASCII file and import it into the new version.

Project is already in use

The project file you specified is already open, either by you or by another user who is running the

Logix Designer

application.

Name is badly formed

The name does not follow the IEC-61131 naming standard. Enter an IEC-61131 compliant name.

Name too long

Logix Designer

application file names must be 40 characters or less in length. Rename the file with a shorter name to open the project.

Project file created with an engineering version of the

Logix Designer

application. Not intended for customer use.

The version of the application that created this project file was intended to be used only in the process of developing the

Logix Designer

application, and the project file cannot be converted to match a product version of the software.

Project file was created with a newer version of the

Logix Designer

application.

The version identifier in the project file is later than the version identifier used by this version of the software. The project file can only be opened by the version of the software that created it, or a later version. If you must, for some reason, try to open the project in this (older) version of the software, you must open it with the newer version, export it, and then try to edit the exported file.

Project file contains object that can't be converted

The project file contains an object in a format that can't be converted to work with this version of the

Logix Designer

application. To open this project, you must use the version of the application that created it, or the most current version of the application.

Timeout period expired

You do not have

5000 software v17 activated when you launch the software and try to open an

5000 software v17, but not having that software activated prevents

RSLogix

5000 software v16 from launching and therefore causes

The project does not have security information or the project is corrupt.

Required license is not available

The file could not be opened because one or more project components are protected, and the required licenses or source keys are not available. To resolve the problem, obtain the required licenses or source keys for the protected components.
