What does a yellow question mark in RSWho mean?
If a module displays as a yellow question mark in RSWho, the module does not have an associated Electronic Data Sheet (EDS) file installed, and therefore cannot be recognized by RSLinx Classic. The software considers this to be an unknown device because it has not been registered. In this case, the correct online name displays but the icon does not appear.
To resolve this condition, use the Device Description File Installation Tool to register the proper EDS file.
TIP:
Some devices, such as PCCC devices, do not have EDS files and therefore display as a question mark in RSWho. A yellow question mark also appears if you configure an Ethernet driver to communicate to an IP address with no physical device. In this case, RSWho displays the Device Name as Unrecognized Device.
