Copy a link (Step 3 of 4)

To copy a link, perform the following:
  1. Select
    Edit > Copy DDE/OPC link
    .
  2. In the left pane, select the
    +
    next to
    RSLinx OPC Server (Node: <Local>)
    to expand the list of configured topics.
  3. Select a topic of interest.
    TIP:
    There are offline and online expandable entries. Click an online entry to display a list of available tags directly from the device (if supported). Click an offline entry to display a list of tags from a file on your computer when a topic has an associated Symbol database.
  4. Select an online or offline item, and select
    OK
    .
    TIP:
    The Data Table Address field is filled with text that includes the topic name and the tag name.
If you use RSLinx Classic Gateway, you can use the data monitor to paste a link by following the steps below:
  1. Right-click a processor in RSWho and select
    Data Monitor
    .
  2. Navigate to the tag of interest in the data monitor, right-click it, and select
    Copy to Clipboard
    .
  3. If no topic is configured, RSLinx Classic sets one up for you. Just click
    Done
    on the
    DDE/OPC Topic Configuration
    dialog box if it displays.
  4. The
    Copy DDE/OPC Link
    dialog box appears. The Data Table Address box contains the topic and the tag you selected in the data monitor.
