Configure a topic (Step 2 of 4)

To configure a topic:
  1. In
    RSWho
    , right-click the device to which you want to create a topic.
  2. Select
    Configure New DDE/OPC Topic
    .
  3. Type a name for the new topic in the Topic List (49 character at maximum).
  4. On the
    Data Collection
    or
    Advanced Communication
    tabs, type any specific information for the new topic.
    TIP:
    Do not give the same name to FactoryTalk Linx shortcuts and RSLinx Classic topics. If a shortcut has the same name as a topic, tags are not displayed for one of them during a tag browse.
  5. Click
    Apply
    to add the new topic. If you enter any specific information for the new topic on the
    Data Collection
    or
    Advanced Communication tabs,
    when a message appears asking if you want to update topic, click
    Yes
    .
  6. When you finish adding topics, click
    Done
    to close the
    DDE/OPC Topic Configuration
    dialog box.
To edit an existing topic:
  1. In the
    DDE/OPC Topic Configuration
    dialog box, from the Topic List, select the DDE topic you want to edit.
  2. Make the necessary modifications to the topic and click
    Apply
    . When a message appears asking if you want to update topic, click
    Yes
    .
  3. When you finish adding topics, click
    Done
    to close the
    DDE/OPC Topic Configuration
    dialog box.
