Options, DDE/OPC Tab

Select
DDE/OPC > Options
or
View > Options
to display the
Options
dialog box which contains the
DDE/OPC
tab. The
DDE/OPC
tab provides these abilities:
  • Log communication errors
  • Display addressing errors
  • Use English language for DDE conversations
CF_TEXT based floating point uses English floating point separators with this selected, and the language specific separators if not selected. If the machine's language is changed, RSLinx Classic will use the new language unless this is selected.
  • Save communication errors to a file
    You can select
    Browse
to specify the log file path.
  • Enable Automatic Client Connection Cleanup
When requested by an OPC client, RSLinx Classic will allocate internal threads and open connections to a controller. However, RSLinx Classic is not notified when an OPC client stops communicating, causing the connection and thread resources to remain allocated. These leftover resources could impact normal operation, especially in a large heavily loaded system. By enabling Automatic Client Connection Cleanup, RSLinx Classic will perform a resource check at the interval that you specify to determine if connections and threads can be closed.
