EDS Service component did not register properly

While installing RSLinx Classic, or running the Device Description File Installation Tool, you:
  • Encounter an error message, “Our EDS Services component did not register properly. Contact Rockwell Software Support for Assistance,” and
  • Notice that all the control buttons the Device Description File Installation Tool are not available, as well as
  • Notice that the device icons in RSWho appear as globes
    It indicates that the file RSEDS.DLL did not register properly. To correct the problem, perform the following steps:
    1. Ensure that RSEDS.DLL exists, and register it using the REGSVR32.
    2. Reboot your computer to run the Device Description File Installation Tool to register the EDS files directory on the computer.
