PLC-5 enhanced: unsolicited messages through a 1756-ENET Gateway

To configure an unsolicited message in a PLC-5C and route it through a 1756-ENET ControlLogix Gateway to RSLinx Classic on an Ethernet network, complete the following:
From RSLogix5
  1. Create a message instruction in the PLC-5C processor. Refer to the RSLogix5 documentation for details on how to complete this step.
  2. Under Controller Properties specify a unique Source Link ID.
From RSLinx Classic
  1. From the Control bar, select
    DDE/OPC > Options
    .
  2. On the
    General
    tab, select
    Accept UDP Messages on Ethernet Port
    .
    TIP:
    This option is enabled by default in
    RSLinx Classic
    version 4.00 or earlier. Starting from
    RSLinx Classic
    version 4.10, this option is disabled by default.
  3. From
    RSWho
    , right-click the ControlLogix processor, and select
    Configure New DDE/OPC Topic
    .
  4. From DDE/OPC Topic Configuration dialog box, select the
    Data Collection
    tab.
  5. Select
    PLC-5
    for Processor Type.
  6. Select the
    Advanced Communication
    tab. For Local or Remote Addressing, select
    Remote route
    and configure the bridge type as 1785-KA5 Bridge/5130-KA.
  7. For the Remote ID, use the Source Link ID from the target PLC-5C, and ensure the Remote Network Type is Data Sidewalk (DH485) with Internet Mode selected.
