Configure CIP Options - PCCC Encapsulation

The
PCCC Encapsulation in CIP
dialog box is used to configure how PCCC requests are sent over networks that use the CIP protocol. The CIP protocol is used over ControlNet and over Ethernet by the 1756-ENET module in the ControlLogix Gateway.
IMPORTANT:
Changing this configuration is an advanced procedure, and is not recommended without a clear understanding of the consequences.
PCCC requests, which require encapsulation in the CIP protocol, may be sent using CIP unconnected messaging or CIP connected messaging. Each target and bridge device using the CIP protocol supports a limited number of connections, and has a limited number of buffers for unconnected messages (which are processed at a lower priority than connected messages). It may be necessary to adjust RSLinx Classic use of these resources to improve performance or reliability.
If PCCC requests are bridged from a CIP network onto DH+ through a
1756-DHRIO
in a ControlLogix Gateway, CIP connections must always be used. In this case, RSLinx Classic establishes connections with the DHRIO for each channel that carries traffic. The number of connections RSLinx Classic opens depends on the load. The connection pools for a channel are shared by all PCCC requests routed out that channel regardless of how many different stations on the DH+ network are addressed.
