Configure Remote I/O (RIO)

Use the following procedure to configure a remote I/O (RIO) scanner. This is an overview of the steps.
To configure a remote I/O scanner
  1. Right-click
    the RIO scanner and then click
    Add Rack
    to display the
    Rack Properties
    dialog box.
    Note that adding a rack also adds a group to the tree. Set the
    Rack#
    ,
    Module Grouping
    , and
    Access
    controls.
    When you are finished adding module groupings, click
    OK
    to close the Rack Properties dialog box.
  2. Below the group that was added, right-click
    Inputs
    and/or
    Outputs
    and select
    Add Alias
    to display the
    Alias Properties
    dialog box.
    1. Set the
      Name
      (or accept the default name),
      Type
      ,
      Start Address
      ,
      Bit
      ,
      Length
      ,
      Address
      , and
      Initial Value
      fields.
    2. Click
      Overlaps
      to determine if any overlapping aliases exist.
    3. Click
      Apply
      to save the alias to the configuration and add the next available alias to edit.
    4. When you are finished adding aliases, click
      OK
      to close the
      Alias Properties
      dialog box.
  3. Right-click the
    RIO scanner
    and select
    Add Block Transfer
    to display the
    Block Transfer Properties
    dialog box.
    1. Set the
      BT #
      ,
      Rack
      ,
      Group/Slot
      ,
      Type
      , and
      Size
      fields.
    2. Click
      Apply
      to save the block transfer to the configuration and add the next available block transfer to edit.
    3. When you are finished adding block transfer definitions, click
      OK
      to close the
      Block Transfer Properties
      dialog box.
  4. If you wish to import a file to replace the current configuration, right-click the RIO scanner and click
    Import
    .
  5. Right-click the RIO scanner and click
    Save
    .
