Event Log Tab Overview

The Event Log Tab displays a history of redundancy events occurring in the redundancy module’s chassis and the partial history of the events in the partner chassis.
Option
Description
Auto Update ON / OFF Selection
Selecting
ON
will periodically (approx. every 2 seconds) refresh the event list by getting events from Redundancy Module.
Selecting
OFF
will stop the event refresh process.
Note: This option has to be
ON
for viewing the latest events from Redundancy Module.
Partner Log OPEN / CLOSE Selection
Selecting OPEN / CLOSE will Open / Close the partner event log list respectively.
Note: If a partner Redundancy Module is not available when the Config Tool instance is opened, this selection will be grayed out and will not be available. Also, if an existing partner Redundancy Module becomes unavailable, the partner event log list will be grayed out. It will still be possible to select individual events in the grayed out partner event log list.
Export Selection
This feature is helpful if the event logs are to be saved for future reference.
Selected events from the Redundancy Module event log list and partner event log list can be exported to a text format (.txt) or comma separated value format (.csv). The events are exported in multiple columns. While exporting the events, the user can select whether to export the extended information associated with these events.
Export All
Click on this button to export all of the event log entries stored in the connected RM and the partner RM to a text format (.txt) file or to a comma separated value format (.csv) file. If the partner RM is also accessible to the Config Tool at the time of export, then the export may be done only once. Otherwise, connect to the partner RM as well, and click on this button again to create another .txt or .csv file.
Chassis A Events
This window displays the events from the Redundancy Module to which the
FactoryTalk Linx
Redundancy Module Configuration Tool instance is opened.
Chassis B Events
This window displays the events from the partner Redundancy Module, of the Redundancy Module to which the
FactoryTalk Linx
Redundancy Module Configuration Tool is instance is opened. Note that the partner event log contains only the latest 56 events from the partner Redundancy Module. To view all the events from the partner Redundancy Module, please open a
FactoryTalk Linx
Redundancy Module Configuration Tool Instance directly to the partner Redundancy Module.
Extended Info
Selecting an event and clicking on this button opens up the extended event information window for that particular event. The following information is displayed.
Export Diagnostics
Click on this button to export the debug logs (i.e. RM firmware diagnostic information) from the connected RM as well as the partner RM to a debug information (.dbg) file. Be sure to perform this action on a faulted RM. If the partner of the faulted RM is also accessible to the
FactoryTalk Linx
Redundancy Module Configuration Tool at the time of export, then the diagnostics will be exported for both connected RM and partner RM. Otherwise, connect to the partner RM as well, and click on this button again to create another .dbg file. It is also permitted to run the export after the fault is cleared, but under the following restrictions:
  • Ensure that this export is performed before cycling power to the partner of the faulted RM. (Otherwise, the debug log on the partner RM will be lost.)
  • If this export is not performed and another fault occurs after clearing the existing fault then the existing debug log on the faulted RM will be overwritten.
Clear Fault
This button is enabled only when RM is in faulted mode.
Clicking on the
Clear Fault
button will soft-reset the RM, reset the display fields, re-enable access to the tabs, and boot up the RM normally, like a power-up scenario.
