MQTT client properties

The following table shows the MQTT client properties.
Field
Description
Name
Enters the MQTT client name.
MQTT Broker Address
Enters the IP address or host name of the broker.
Port
Enters a broker's port.
Client ID
Edits or regenerate the client ID.
The client ID is used to identify the client for a broker. The client ID must be unique within the broker.
Status
Views the connection status between the client and broker.
SSL/TLS
Enables or disables secure communication between the client and broker. Make sure that the broker also supports this security protocol.
  • CA signed server certificate
    It is used for one-way connection. The broker certificate will be trusted automatically.
  • CA certificate only
    It is used for one-way connection. You need to select the broker CA certificate to validate.
  • Self signed certificates
    It is used for a two-way authentication. You need to select the broker CA certificate to validate and provide the client certificate for broker authentication.
User Authentication
Provides the username and password to the broker authentication. Make sure that the user credentials are enabled in the broker.
Maximum Number of Messages to Cache
Specifies the maximum number of messages that you want to cache when the network disconnects.
IMPORTANT: If the value is too large, the cache will grow larger than the available memory space. For more information, see Cache undelivered messages.
Strategy to Cache Message
Selects the method to cache messages.
  • Discard new messages
    When the message exceeds the
    Maximum Number of Messages to Cache
    value, FactoryTalk Linx Gateway will retain the oldest messages and stop caching the new messages.
  • Discard old messages
    When the message exceeds the
    Maximum Number of Messages to Cache
    value, FactoryTalk Linx Gateway will remove the oldest messages and cache the latest messages.
