DDE format sample

Use these formats to read tag values under different options. Any sections in the DDE format with square bracket must be surrounded by single quotation marks.
On the

  • If you select
    Folders with scalar data
    , the DDE format could be:
    =FTLinxGatewayDDE|ShortcutName!'TagName'
    or
    =FTLinxGatewayDDE|'[ShortcutName]'!'TagName'
    Example:
    =FTLinxGatewayDDE|ShortcutName!'Tag_1'
    =FTLinxGatewayDDE|'[ShortcutName]'!'Tag_1'
    =FTLinxGatewayDDE|ShortcutName! 'Program:MainProgram.l_BoolArray1[006]'
    =FTLinxGatewayDDE|'[ShortcutName]'!'Program:MainProgram.l_BoolArray1[006]'

    TIP:
    If there is no area, the DDE format could be:
    =FTLinxGatewayDDE|' '!'TagName'
    Example:
    =FTLinxGatewayDDE|'::'!'Tag_1'
    =FTLinxGatewayDDE|' '!'Tag_1'
    There is a space in the quotation marks.
  • If you select
    Custom namespace
    , the DDE format could be:
    =FTLinxGatewayDDE|NamespaceName!'TagName'
    or
    =FTLinxGatewayDDE|'[NamespaceName]'!'TagName'
    Example:
    =FTLinxGatewayDDE| Namespace_01!'Tag_1'
    TIP:
    The tag name should not be the same as the Excel range name, for example, A1 or tag1. Otherwise, DDE will not work when reopening Excel.
