Work with a self-signed certificate for evaluation and test purposes
A self-signed certificate will be generated and activated for Historian WebTrend in Internet Information Service (IIS) Manager during the installation. To enable client browsers to validate and trust a self-signed certificate, follow these steps to complete the initial setup.
To work with a self-signed certificate for evaluation and test purposes
- After installing Historian WebTrend on the server, go toC:\Program Files\Rockwell Software\FactoryTalk Historian\Historian WebTrend\SelfSignedCerts, and then copy the<hostname>.cerfile into the client.
- Import the self-signed certificate to the client.The following steps use Windows operating systems as an example. For steps on other operating systems, see their user documentation.
- Double-click the<hostname>.cerfile.
- In theCertificatedialog, on theGeneraltab, selectInstall Certificate.
- In theCertificate Import Wizarddialog, underStore Location, selectCurrent UserorLocal Machineas needed, and then selectNext.
- SelectPlace all certificates in the following store, and then selectBrowse.
- SelectTrusted Root Certification Authorities, and then selectOK.
- SelectNext.
- SelectFinish.

- SelectOK.
