Failed Writes due to Security
Description
This counter indicates the number of failed write requests from the current OPC UA client to the FactoryTalk Linx Gateway OPC UA server. This issue occurs when the FactoryTalk Linx Gateway server cannot retrieve data from FactoryTalk Live Data, because the
Tag Write Value
permission setting is set as Deny
in the FactoryTalk Administration Console. The FactoryTalk Diagnostics records details such as the client, group, and item name associated with the security error for troubleshooting assistance.
To resolve this issue, set the
Tag Write Value
permission as Allow
in the FactoryTalk Administration Console. For more instructions on the configuration, see the FactoryTalk Services Platform Help
. Considering the following points when configuring product policies and securable actions in the FactoryTalk Administration Console:
- Security settings are obtained from the FactoryTalk Network Directory.
- FactoryTalk Services Platform version 2.50 (SR5) or later supports associating the project with a specific FactoryTalk Directory.
- FactoryTalk Services Platform version 2.80 or later supports Permission Sets and the ability to configure Guest User permissions.
- Product Policies are not tied to a specific project, and include, among others, the following policies:
- Securing the controller.
- Creating a new project, either through the New Controller dialog box, or through the Translator Tool utility.
- Updating firmware.
