Ch0x
page (5094-IJ2IS, 5094-IJ2ISXT) includes these parameters:
Parameter
Description
Disable Channel
Select to disable channel configuration or clear to enable channel configuration.
Disable the channel to help prevent erroneous fault reporting, such as open wire fault, and to help prevent the FLT LED for that channel from illuminating.
Sensor Type
Select the sensor type for the channel:
  • Magnetic / Inductive Pickup
  • Vortex Flowmeter
  • 24V DC IEC Type 3
Threshold Voltage
Select the threshold voltage for the channel. Options vary depending on the selected sensor type for the channel:

Enable Direction Detection
Select to enable direction detection for the channel or clear to disable direction detection for the channel.
If enabled, the input channel is used with a second sensor to determine the direction of rotation. The result is reflected in the Direction input tag.
This check box is turned off if the sensor type is
Vortex Flowmeter
.
Frequency Sample Time
Select the time in milliseconds used to collect the frequency samples before calculation of the frequency. Select from 2, 4, 6, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500, and 1000.
Enable Pulses to Average Over
Select to enable Pulses to Average Over or clear to disable Pulses to Average Over.
If enabled, specify the number of pulses to average when calculating average frequency.
Pulses to Average over
Enter the number of pulses to average when calculating average frequency. Maximum value is 200.
Engineering Units
Enter the unit of measure used for the channel.
High Signal
Enter one of four points used in scaling. The high signal is in terms of the channel signal units and corresponds to the high engineering term when scaled. The scaling equation is used.
High Signal
values must be greater than
Low Signal
values.
High Engineering
Enter one of four points used in scaling. The high engineering helps determines the engineering units the signal values scale into. The high engineering term corresponds to the high signal value. The scaling equation is used.
Low Signal
Enter one of four points used in scaling. The low signal is in terms of the channel signal units and corresponds to the low engineering term when scaled. The scaling equation is used.
Low Engineering
Enter one of four points used in scaling. The low engineering helps determines the engineering units the signal values scale into. The low engineering term corresponds to the low signal value. The scaling equation is used.
Sample Time Multiplier
Select the multiplier to use to modify the
Frequency Sample Time
. Use this multiplier to adjust the frequency sample time interval closer to the value needed to report the proper frequency and quickly report a missing pulse.
Select from None, 0, 2, 8, and 32.
Detection Time
The calculated detection time value in milliseconds. Refer to this table for the calculation used for the selected

Startup Sample Time Multiplier
Select the multiplier to use to modify the number of Missing Pulse Alarms periods (Minimum Frequency Sampling Times) permitted before raising an alarm, if Alarms is enabled. Select from None, 0, 2, 8, and 32.
Selecting the default value None generates an alarm with a 2000 ms delay.
Startup Detection Time
The calculated startup detection time value in milliseconds. Refer to this table for the calculation used for the selected

Digital Filter
Enter the time constant for a first order lag filter used to smooth noise transients on the input with a range from 0…32767 milliseconds. When set to 0, no filtering takes place.
Open Wire Detection
Select to turn on open wire detection for the channel or clear to turn off open wire detection for the channel.
This check box is turned off if the sensor type is

Diagnostics
Select to open the
Ch0x Diagnostics
dialog box and view diagnostic information.
