Configure Advanced Redundancy Configuration options

Use the
Advance Redundancy Configuration
dialog box to
Retain Test Edits in Standard Programs on Switchover
and to configure
Memory Usage
.
TIP: For standard controller types that support redundancy, the Retain Test Edits option is
Retain Test Edits on Switchover
. For safety controllers that support redundancy, the option is
Retain Test Edits in Standard Programs on Switchover
.
To access the
Advanced Redundancy Configuration
dialog box, in the
Controller Properties
dialog box
Redundancy
tab, select
Advanced
.
TIP:
This dialog box is available only if the controller type supports redundancy and redundancy is enabled.
To configure Advanced Redundancy Configuration option
  1. Select
Retain Test Edits in Standard Programs on Switchover
to maintain the Test Edits mode in the event that a switchover to a secondary system should occur.
This control only applies to online edits made to programs in standard tasks. Test Edits are always retained for the safety task.
The Test Edits mode allows for the temporary execution of online edits. Enabling this option prevents the controller from automatically switching back to the unedited version of the program if the primary chassis fails while testing online edits.
    IMPORTANT:
    We recommend leaving the
Retain Test Edits in Standard Programs on Switchover
setting at the default (cleared) to avoid faulting both controllers when testing edits.
    • If enabling this option (select the box), faults that result from the test edits can also occur on the new primary controller after a switchover.
    • If not enabling this option (clear the box), faults that result from the test edits are not carried over to the primary controller in the event of a switchover.
  2. For
    ControlLogix
    5570 controllers only, adjust the
    Memory Usage
slider to determine the amount of memory available for the online creation of tags versus other logic creation after a download.
The default value is 50% (that is, halfway between tags and logic).
