Diagnostics Viewer does not display new messages

Possible cause and solution:
  • The Diagnostics Viewer is open.
    When the Diagnostics Viewer window is open, new messages do not appear automatically. To refresh the view and reload messages, press the
    F5
    key or select the Refresh button.
  • Log file has reached its maximum file size
    If the Local Log has been set to
    do not overwrite events
    , when the maximum file size is reached, new messages routed to the log are discarded.
    To resolve this situation, run the
    Diagnostics Setup
    editor and clear the log file manually.
    1. From the
      FactoryTalk Administration Console
      Tools
      menu, choose
      FactoryTalk Diagnostics > Setup
      .
    2. In the left pane of the Diagnostics Setup window, select
      Destination Setup
      , and then select
      Local Log
      .
    3. In the
      Local Log Destination Setup
      dialog box, select
      Clear Log
      .
  • Local Log destination path has been changed from the default location of
    \Windows\system32\config\systemprofile
    .
    If the default destination for the
    Local Log Logging path
    has been changed, reboot the computer so that the new file location is used.
