The FactoryTalk Directory Configuration wizard does not accept my password
Possible causes and solutions:
- The password typed uses different cases than the actual password.Passwords are case sensitive. Example:Mysecretpasswordis different thanmysecretpassword. If you are certain that you are typing the correct password for the user account, check that theCaps Lockkey is not on.
- Your account has been locked. If you typed the wrong password more than a certain number of times, your account might be locked automatically. Depending on the security policies in effect, you might be able to access the account again after waiting a while (for example, 15 minutes). If you cannot access your account, have aFactoryTalkadministrator reset your account for you.
- WindowsAdministrators group was deleted from the directoryIf you cannot log on using aWindowslocal administrator account, this might be because theWindowsAdministrators group was deleted from the directory. Instead, log on using aFactoryTalkaccount that is a member of theFactoryTalkAdministrators group. MultipleFactoryTalkaccounts can be members of the Administrators group. If you cannot remember the password to your account, have another user reset your password for you usingFactoryTalk Administration ConsoleorFactoryTalk View SE.
- TheFactoryTalkAdministrator account user name and password has been lost or forgottenIf you have lost or forgotten the user name and password to anyFactoryTalkAdministrator account, and no other user accounts exist or are available, contactRockwell AutomationTechnical Support.
- The password doesn't meet policy requirements. If you are changing your password, and the wizard won't accept your new password, a minimum password length and password complexity requirements might apply. Make sure that your new password:
- Is not the same as any of the last 3 passwords you used for the account.
- Does not contain all of the user account name. For example, a user account named John12 cannot have the password John1234. However, the password 12John is permitted. This check is also case sensitive so John12 could have the password jOHN12.
- Is at least six characters long
- Contains characters from three of the following four categories:
- Unaccented uppercase characters (A to Z)
- Unaccented lowercase characters (a to z)
- Numerals (0 to 9)
- Non-alphanumeric characters (!, @, #, %)If your new password meets this criteria and is still not accepted, contact yourFactoryTalkAdministrator for assistance.
