Supported data constructs
OPC UA Servers can contain a wide range of data constructs.
FactoryTalk Linx
OPC UA Connector can support many, but not all of the OPC UA constructs. When a connection is established with an OPC UA Server, the OPC UA Connector reads the namespace from the OPC UA Server to determine which data can be accessed. The OPC UA Connector populates the FactoryTalk Directory
with information about the supported data to permit other FactoryTalk software to browse the OPC UA Server’s namespace. The OPC UA Connector will exclude data that is not supported. A namespace analysis report can be initiated from the endpoint configuration screen in FactoryTalk Linx
OPC UA Connector’s user interface to determine why data items are not supported. The OPC UA Connector also generates predefined status and diagnostic data items for each configured OPC UA Server to aid in monitoring and diagnosing system operation. The OPC UA Connector supports redundancy capabilities to operate in a system requiring high availability and includes predefined redundancy diagnostic items and supports a tag modifier extension to specify which server in a redundant pair to deliver data and specify commands to switch the active server.FactoryTalk Linx
OPC
Connector supports these data constructs:- OPC UA Scalar and Structured Data Types
- Scalar and Structured Arrays
- Tags defined as children of other tags
- Most OPC UA defined structures
- User-defined structures
