Securing access to alarms and events

To interact with alarms and events through graphic objects, such as the Alarm and Event Summary or Alarm Status Explorer, your user account must be allowed certain security permissions.
The following alarm-specific securable actions are integrated into
FactoryTalk Security
:
  • Acknowledge alarms
  • Enable/Disable alarms
  • Reset latched alarms
  • Suppress/Unsuppress alarms
  • Shelve/Unshelve alarms
Administrators and other authorized users can set permissions to either allow or deny users or groups of users the ability to perform alarm-specific actions from particular computers or groups of computers.
To grant and deny security permissions, use either
FactoryTalk Administration Console
or
FactoryTalk View Studio
. Right-click the appropriate object on the
FactoryTalk
Explorer window, and then click
Security
.
