SQL Server Express

FactoryTalk Alarms and Events
 uses
SQL Server
 as the database engine for logging alarm and event data.
  • If you do not have or do not wish to use an existing
    SQL Server
     database, you can install
    SQL Server
     2022 Express with the correct features enabled.
  • If you already have
    SQL Server
     installed, you can configure the database to log alarm and event log information. Follow the configuration instructions in the
    FactoryTalk Alarms and Events
     System Configuration Guide
    , in the section titled "Using an existing
    SQL Server
     database."
The database can be installed on the same computer used to host other
FactoryTalk
 servers or it can be on a separate computer. Depending on the size of your system, you might choose to use a separate computer as a dedicated logging computer to offload processing power.
