Database definition association with an alarm server

Associate a database definition with a
Rockwell Automation
Device Server (
FactoryTalk Linx
), a
FactoryTalk
Tag Alarm and Event Server, or an OPC UA server if you want the alarm server to log historical alarm and event data to a database. By default,
FactoryTalk Alarms and Events
servers are configured to log historical alarm and event data to a database. However, if a database is not associated with an alarm server, the alarm server cannot log any historical alarm and event data. You can associate different alarm servers with different databases, or you can have all alarm servers log their data to the same database.
Keep the following in mind:
  • If the current alarm server does not already have a database definition associated with it or if the database definition has been deleted, the
    Definition name
    ,
    Server name
    , and
    Database name
    settings are blank.
  • Once a database definition is associated, the
    Server name
setting displays the name of the computer where the database resides and the
    Database name
setting displays the name of the database where the alarm and event data is logged.
