Alarm Source Browser

Use the
FactoryTalk®
Alarms and Events
Alarm Source Browser
to browse for areas, and then for the alarm sources within those areas.
Areas subdivide and organize a distributed network application into logical or physical divisions. For example, separate areas might correspond with separate manufacturing lines in a facility, separate plants in different geographical locations, or different manufacturing processes.
Areas are not available with local station applications.
Once you have found the alarm source you want, you can select it. Depending on where you opened the
Alarm Source Browser
from, you might also be able to select multiple alarm sources.
The status bar at the bottom of the
Alarm Source Browser
shows how many alarm sources are in the list and which filter is applied. By default, the
Alarm Source Browser
shows only the names of alarm sources. Using the Alarm Source Browser you can add or remove alarm sources, view the server names associated with alarm sources, sort and resize the alarm source list, and refresh the alarm source list.
If security services are enabled, access to alarm sources is controlled by
FactoryTalk Security
:
  • To select an area, you must have
    Common > Read
    permissions for that area.
  • To select an area within another area, you must have
    Common > List Children
    permissions for the parent area.
