  2. Double-click the downloaded file and follow the installation wizard.
  3. From the
    FactoryTalk Optix Studio
    toolbar, select
    Open dashboard page

  5. Select an existing database or configure a new database:
    • To use an existing database:
      1. Select an existing database.
      2. If needed, edit the database properties.
      3. Select

    • To create a new database:
      1. Select
        New database

      2. If needed, edit the
        Name
        and
        Type
        fields.
      3. Select
        Next

      4. If needed, edit the database properties.

    • To duplicate an available database:
      TIP: Duplicating an existing database enables you to quickly create a new database based on the existing database.
      1. Right-click an available database and select
        Duplicate

      2. If needed, edit the database properties.

    TIP: You can show or hide variables (parameters) nested in other variables by using the

    toggle. You can quickly find the parameters that you want to select by using the

    field.

  16. Configure the data logger properties:
    • To automatically sample all monitored variables regardless of their values:
      1. In the
        Sampling mode
        field, ensure that the
        Periodic
        option is selected.
      2. Set the
        Sampling period
        property.
        The property value is in the format:
        0000:00:00.000
      3. Select
        Next

    • To automatically sample all monitored variables which values changed in comparison with the previous sampling:
      1. From the
        Sampling mode
        field, select
        Change in value
        .
      2. Set the
        Polling time
        property.
        The property value is in the format:
        0000:00:00.000
      3. Select
        Next

    • To sample the variables by invoking the
      Log
      method:
      1. Set
        Sampling mode
        to
        None
        .
      2. Select
        Next

  17. Select the variables to log.
    TIP: You can quickly find the variables to select using the
    Search
    field.

  19. In the pane, select the node that contains the property to set through the dynamic link.
  20. In the pane, next to the property that to set, select Dynamic link.

    , select an object or a variable.

    • For global methods, expand
      Commands

    • For local methods, expand the nodes that expose methods (for example, a
      DataGrid
      node exposes a
      Refresh
      method), or expand the node related to a specific NetLogic.
  24. (optional) If the method requires arguments, expand the method and set arguments.

    TIP: If needed, select

    TIP: Refresh remote client devices by selecting Refresh.

    • On Linux client devices, in the terminal, navigate to the
