Remove and Install the LCL Filter Capacitor - Frame 5
Replace an LCL filter capacitor with one of the following kit catalog numbers:
- SK-RM-LCLCP4-F5 (400V/480V, 30 kW/40 Hp and higher)
- SK-RM-LCLCP6-F5 (400V/480V, 22 kW/30 Hp and lower, and all 600V/690V)
Follow these steps to remove and install the LCL filter capacitor.
- Review the product advisories in Before You Begin.
- Remove power from the system.
- Remove the cover from the chassis. See Remove and Install the Frame 5 Cover.
- Loosen the M5 hexagonal screws that secure the capacitor wires to terminals R, S and T on the capacitor terminal block at the top of the cap, and remove the wires.
- Remove the M12 hex nut that secures the capacitor to the mounting bracket.
- Cut the cable tie (A) that secures the capacitor to the bracket, and remove the capacitor.
- Inspect the foam pad (B) on the side wall of the chassis for damage.
- If the pad is damaged, remove the existing pad material and clean the surface of the chassis with a 50% isopropyl alcohol and 50% water solution.
- Install the new foam pad that is provided with the kit.
- Insert the three legs of the resistor (C) that is supplied with the kit into the terminal block at the top of the capacitor and secure the resistor.
- Install the filter capacitor in the reverse order of removal with the resistor (D) and new cable tie (E) positioned as shown here.
