Importing/Exporting an Add-On Instruction

Use Import/Export from the Add-On Instruction folder in the Controller Organizer to import/export an Add-On Instruction.
To import an Add-On Instruction from a previously saved .L5X File:
  1. Right click on the Add-On Instructions folder in the Controller Organizer.
  2. Choose the
    Import Add-On Instruction
    option.
    The Import dialog box appears.
  3. In the File name field, enter the name (and full path) of the .L5X file that contains the content you want to import.
Displays the name of the current tag. If desired, you can rename this tag.
You may need to navigate to the appropriate directory to find the file if you do not know its full name and path.
  4. Select
    Import
to import the content. The Import Configuration dialog box appears.
  5. Make the appropriate configuration changes, according to how you would like the content to be imported into your current project.
  6. Select
    OK
    .
To export an Add-On Instruction in the project to an .L5K or .L5X file:
You can only export content if you have the project file open.
  1. From within an open project, in the Controller Organizer, select the Add-On Instruction you wish to export.
  2. From the right mouse menu, choose the
    Export Add-On Instruction
    option.
    The Export dialog box appears.
  3. In the File name field, enter the name you want to use for the content you are exporting.
This is the name of the .L5X file.
  4. Check or clear the Include all referenced Add-On Instructions and User-Defined Types check box.
Note that if this check box is not checked, the export file will not contain referenced Add-On Instructions or User-Defined Data Types that are needed to recreate this instruction. In this case, the project you are importing into must already contain the referenced Add-On Instructions and User-Defined Types or the import will fail.
    TIP:
If you manage each Add-On Instruction as a stand-alone, you may want to export the instruction and any referenced Add-On Instructions or User-Defined Types into one export file. By including any referenced Add-On Instructions or User-Defined Types, you also make it easier to preserve the instruction signature of an Add-On Instruction.
  5. Select
    Export
    to export the content.
