Datalink Configuration

Scenario: The application displays “Variable invalid or data link missing” error message while configuring the Data Link for a variable.
Root Cause
: The message “Variable invalid or data link missing” typically occurs due to one of the following root causes:
  • Cause 1: No Data Link Configured for the Variable
     - The meter associated with this variable does not have a valid data link configured.
    Solution
    : Perform the following steps to edit the configuration and assign the valid data links:
    1. Open the variable configuration in the application.
    2. Assign a valid data link to the meter.
    3. Save the configuration and verify that the error message no longer appears.
  • Cause 2: Associated Timeseries Deleted
    - The timeseries linked to the meter configuration was removed from the system (e.g., deleted in CDF), causing the data link to become invalid.
    Solution
    : Perform the following steps to verify and reconfigure a valid timeseries:
    1. Check if the timeseries exists in CDF.
    2. If missing, recreate the timeseries or select an alternative valid timeseries.
    3. Update the meter configuration to point to the correct timeseries.
    4. Save and validate the configuration.
