Port Diagnostics dialog box parameters

These status elements allow you to view status of octets received and sent, and packets received and sent.
Interface Counters
Parameter
Description
Octets inbound
Displays the number of octets received by the port.
Octets outbound
Displays the number of octets sent by the port.
Unicast packets inbound
Displays the number of unicast packets received by the port.
Unicast packets outbound
Displays the number of unicast packets sent by the port.
Non-unicast packets inbound
Displays the number of multicast packets received by the port.
Non-unicast packets outbound
Displays the number of multicast packets sent by the port.
Packets discards inbound
Displays the number of inbound packets that were discarded.
Packets discards outbound
Displays the number of outbound packets that were discarded.
Packets with errors inbound
Displays the number of inbound packets that contain errors.
Packets with errors outbound
Displays the number of outbound packets that contain errors.
Unknown protocol packets inbound
Displays the number of inbound packets with unknown protocols.
Media Counters
Parameter
Description
Alignment errors
Displays the number of frames received that are not an integral number of octets in length.
FCS errors
Displays Frame Check Sequence errors. The number of frames received that do not pass the FCS check.
Single collisions
Displays the number of single collisions.
Multiple collisions
Displays the number of multiple collisions.
SQE test errors
Displays the number of times that the Signal Quality Error (SQE) TEST ERROR message is generated.
Deferred transmissions
Displays count of transmissions deferred by busy network.
Late collisions
Displays the number of late collisions.
Excessive collisions
Displays the number of frames for which transmission fails due to excessive collisions.
MAC transmit errors
Displays the number of frames that failed to transmit due to an internal MAC sublayer transmit error.
MAC receive errors
Displays the number of frames that failed to be received due to an internal MAC sublayer receive error.
Carrier sense
Displays the number of times the carrier sense condition was lost or never asserted when attempting to transmit a frame.
Frame too long
Displays the number of frames received that exceed the maximum permitted frame size.

Description
Reset Counters
Sets the interface and media counter values to zero and updates the values displayed with the current counter values.
This parameter is not available while offline.
