Scaling and the scaling equation
This topic explains scaling and provides the scaling equation.
Input scaling
Input scaling translates electrical signal units into engineering units. The device returns the High Engineering value when the High Signal value is present at the input. The device returns the Low Engineering value when the Low Signal value is present at the input. The device returns all other engineering values in a linear manner, depending on the signal value at the input.
Output scaling
Output scaling translates engineering units in the control program into electrical signals on the output channel screws. The device generates the High Signal value when it receives the High Engineering value from the controller. The device generates the Low Signal value when it receives the Low Engineering value from the controller. The device generates all other signal values in a linear manner, depending on the engineering value from the controller.
