1756sc-IF8U Alarm Configuration
Use this tab to configure the Spectrum Controls 1756sc-IF8U analog module channel alarms.
On this tab, you can:
- select the channel you want to configure
- enter process alarms
- choose to enable all alarms
- choose to latch process alarms
- enable the latch rate alarm
- enter a deadband value
- enter rate alarms

Click one of the channel buttons to display its information on this tab.
Enable All Alarms checkbox
Check this box to enable all alarms for a channel.
Latch Process Alarms checkbox
Check this box to maintain an alarm triggered condition for all of the process alarms (low, low low, high, high high) even after the condition ceases. The alarm will only unlatch with an explicit message acknowledging the alarm (unlatch service).
Latch Rate Alarm checkbox
When you enable this alarm, a Rate Alarm indication will remain set even when the alarm condition goes away. This latch allows you to maintain the alarm even after the condition ceases. The alarm will only unlatch with an explicit message acknowledging the alarm (unlatch service).
Process Alarms
Note
: Process Alarms are set in engineering units.High High Alarm
Set the level of input to a channel that will cause the module to set the High High alarm. The alarm will remain until the input returns below this level, unless it is within the deadband, or as long as the alarm is latched.
High Alarm
Set the level of input to a channel that will cause the module to trigger the High alarm. The alarm will remain until the input returns below this level, unless it is within the deadband, or as long as the alarm is latched.
Low Alarm
Set the level of input on a channel that will cause the module to enable the low alarm. The alarm will remain until the input returns above this level, unless it is within the deadband, or as long as the alarm is latched.
Low Low Alarm
Set the level of input to a channel that will cause the module to indicate a low low alarm. The alarm remains until input returns above this level, unless it is within the deadband, or as long as the alarm is latched.
Rate Alarm
Enter an alarm value, in native units per second, to trigger when the rate of change between input samples exceeds the setpoint.
Alarm Deadband
Enter a value, in engineering units, where an alarm, once set, will not disable as long as the input value remains within the deadband range of the alarm trigger point. (This value in combination with the process alarms creates the range.)
OK
Click this button to accept your edits on any tab and close the dialog.
Cancel
Click this button to cancel your edits on any tab and close the dialog.
Apply
Click this button to apply your edits on any tab and continue editing.
If:
- you are online in Program, Remote Program or Remote Run mode and,
- this controller is the owner controller and,
- you have changed the module’s configuration in the software, when you click the Apply or the OK button, the information is automatically sent to the controller. The controller tries to send the information to the module (if the module’s connection is not inhibited). If you don’t click Apply, your changes are not sent to the controller.
