PNPOS device options

Use the
Advanced > Device Options
tab on the
PNPOS Properties
dialog box to configure device options for the selected Process n-Position Device (PNPOS) instruction.
To configure device options for PNPOS instructions
  1. On the instruction in the routine, perform one of these actions:
    • On the Ladder or FBD instruction, select .
    • In the Structured Text editor, right-click the tag name and select
      Configure <tag name>
      .
  2. Select the
    Advanced > Device Options
    tab.
  3. Enter the number of device positions for the device being controlled or monitored in the
    Number of device positions
    box.
  4. Set the
    Device type
    :
    • For a rotary device, select
      Circular
      .
    • For a linear device, for which positions 1 and n are at the ends of travel, select
      Linear
      .
  5. Select the
    Device behavior
    :
    • For a circular (rotary) device, select whether the device can move in either direction (clockwise or counterclockwise) or can only rotate clockwise.
    • For a linear device, select whether the device can move directly to a new position or must return to position 1 on every move.
  6. Select check boxes to enable settings based on the device:
    • Device has feedback for all positions
      . Select if the device provides position feedback. This is an engineering configuration.
    • Use position feedback setting during move
      . Clear this check box to bypass the position feedback checking. This is a maintenance bypass function.
    • Allow a new position setting during move
      . Select to accept a new position setting that is received during a move. When this check box is cleared, the device must wait for the previous move to complete.
    • Keep output position ON until next move
      . Latches the position command output until a new position is set.
    • Device has indexing cylinders (extend, right, retract, left) with position feedback
      . Select if the device provides indexing cylinder feedback. This is an engineering configuration.
    • Use indexing cylinder position feedback
      . Clear this check box to bypass the indexing cylinder feedback checking. This is a maintenance bypass function.
    • Must unlock/unseal to move, lock/seal when done
      . Select if the device has a lock or seal and must unlock or unseal before moving.
    • Device has locked/unlocked feedback
      . Select if the device provides lock feedback. This is an engineering configuration.
    • Use lock feedback for failure checking
      . Clear this check box to bypass the lock feedback checking. This is a maintenance bypass function.
  7. Select
    Apply
