Arrange viewing windows
You can arrange windows in several ways. You can:
- Manually size and position them.
- Minimize them so that they display as icons or maximize them to full screen.
Manually size and position windows
To move a window with the mouse, place the pointer on the window's title bar, press and hold down the mouse button, drag the outline of the window to the new location, and release the button. (You can move icons the same way.)
To change the size of a window with the mouse, move the pointer to one edge or corner of the window until the pointer changes into a two-headed arrow. Press and hold down the mouse button and drag the double-headed arrow to move the edge or corner of the window and resize the window. When the window is the size you want, release the mouse button.
TIP:
You cannot size a maximized window. You must restore it to a smaller size first and then size it as desired.
Maximize/Minimize
There are three control buttons at the top of an application window,
Minimize
, Restore
/Maximize
(toggle), and Close
.To cause a window to fill the display, click the
Maximize
button (little box) at the top right of the window or double-click in the title bar. Note that the control button has changed from a single box, to two overlapping boxes. Return the window to its previous size by clicking the Restore
button (two overlapping boxes) at the top-right corner of the window, or by double-clicking in the title bar.To minimize a window to an icon, click the
Minimize
button (solid line) in the active window's title bar. (Minimizing can be used to clean up the screen by allowing you to concentrate on one window without having to be distracted by other windows.)Restore an icon into a window by double-clicking the icon. If you cannot see the icon, move the window covering it (usually on the bottom-left side of the application window or screen display) or you can select
Window
> Arrange Icons
. This aligns the minimized icons in the lower-left corner of your application window to be visible.Provide Feedback
