Bus Observer page

Use the settings on the
Bus Observer
page in the
Axis Properties
dialog box to enable and configure the operation of the Bus Observer for a regenerative converter.
The Bus Observer dynamically measures the active current applied to the DC Bus for the purpose of bus impedance compensation.
The
Bus Observer
page is available when, on the
General
page, the
Axis Configuration
is set to
Regenerative AC/DC Converter
or
Low Harmonic AC/DC Converter
and the
Converter Configuration
is set to
Bus Voltage Control
.
TIP: To open the Bus Observer page:
  1. In the
    Controller Organizer
    , expand the
    Motion Groups
    folder, and double-click an axis.
  2. From the
    Axis Properties
    dialog box, in
    Categories
    , click
    General
    .
  3. In the
    Converter Configuration
    box, select
    Bus Voltage Control
    .
  4. In
    Categories
    , click
    Bus Observer
    .
The
Bus Observer
page includes these parameters.
Parameter
Description
Configuration
Determines the operation of the Bus Observer. Selecting
Voltage Estimate
configures the observer to dynamically estimate voltage based on an internal model of the DC Bus. This signal, when applied to the voltage loop, provides superior control loop performance. Use Voltage Estimate by itself or with the Bus Observer.
The available values include:
  • Disabled
  • Bus Observer Only
  • Bus Observer with Voltage Estimate
  • Voltage Estimate Only
This parameters are unavailable when in online mode and when the axis is
Servo On
.
Bandwidth
Determines the proportional gain of the Bus Observer.
The default value is 0.0 Hertz.
This parameter is unavailable when
Configuration
is set to
Disabled
.
Integrator Bandwidth
Determines the bandwidth of the integrator beyond which the integrator is ineffective.
The default value is 0.0 Hertz.
This parameter is unavailable when
Configuration
is set to
Disabled
.
