Add the ACM database
Library objects in the ACM Database repository are organized according to a four-level hierarchy:
Solution -> Library Type -> Category -> Catalog Number(version number)
The catalog number and version number uniquely identify the library object. When the ACM data is added to a repository, objects are displayed using this organizational method.
To add the ACM database as a repository
- In theLibrary Repositoriescolumn, right-clickRepositories.
- SelectAdd Repository > ACM. TheConnection Propertieswindow opens.
- Select the default ACM Database or use a different ACM data file.
- To select the default ACM Database, clickOK.
- To select a different data server, select from the dropdown menu in theServer namesetting, or enter a different server name and SQL server instance. Then clickRefresh. When the refresh is complete, clickOK.
- To select a different database from the current server, select from theSelect or enter a database namedropdown menu. Then clickOK.
- To select a data file from outside the server, selectAttach a database fileand clickBrowse. Navigate to the data file. ClickOKto load it, then enter a name in theLogical namesetting. ClickOK.
- (optional) To see detailed information about the data connection, clickAdvanced. The Advanced Properties dialog opens.
- To test the database connection, clickTest Connection. TheTest resultswindow displays whether the connection was successful.TIP:TheOKbutton is unavailable until a successful connection is made.
- ClickOKto add the ACM database as a library repository.The ACM Database along with the library objects in the database are added to the tree view within theLibrary Repositoriescolumn.
