Import an A.I.Series file, a Logic 5 text database file, or an RSLogix5/500 Address and Symbol ASCII file

Use the Tag Import and Export Wizard to import an A.I.Series file, a Logic 5 text database file, or an RSLogix5/500 Address and Symbol ASCII file.
TIP:
The applications you select must be created on
FactoryTalk View
 6.10 or later, or already converted to
FactoryTalk View
 6.10 or later, otherwise the import process will not succeed.
Project and database names must be unique on any one computer. Do not attempt to import a project to a location on the same computer (on a different drive, for example) that already has a project with the same name.
To import an A.I.Series file, a Logic 5 text database file, or an RSLogix5/500 Address and Symbol ASCII file
  1. In the first
    Tag Import and Export Wizard
     dialog box, select
    Import A.I. Seriesor Logic 5 database files
    , or
    Import RSLogix 5/500 Address & Symbol ASCII files
    , and then click
    Next
    .
  2. Select the destination
    FactoryTalk View
     project you want to import into. The
    Project
    type can be Machine Edition or Site Edition.
    1. Click the browse button to the right of the
      Project
      box to open the
      Select Destination Project
      window.
    2. In the
      Select Destination Project
      window, navigate to the destination project's location.
    3. Select the project and click
      Open
      .
    4. Select the application development file (*.med, or *.sed) and click
      Open
      .
  3. Click
    Next
    .
  4. Select the symbol files you want to import, then click
    Next
    .
    • For Machine Edition applications, only tag data can be imported.
    • For Site Edition applications, tag and alarm data can be imported.
      From the
      Choose the A.I. Series or Logic 5 Text Database File
       dialog box, or the
      Choose the RSI Logix 5/500 Address and Symbol ASCII File
       dialog box, you can accept the source file provided, type another path and file name, or click the browse button (...) to select a file, depending on the choice in Step 1.
  5. Click
    Next
    .
  6. Specify the import options, then click
    Next
    .
  7. Verify the import information and then click
    Finish
    .
