Import an A.I.Series file, a Logic 5 text database file, or an RSLogix5/500 Address and Symbol ASCII file
Use the Tag Import and Export Wizard to import an A.I.Series file, a Logic 5 text database file, or an RSLogix5/500 Address and Symbol ASCII file.
TIP:
The applications you select must be created on
FactoryTalk View
6.10 or later, or already converted to FactoryTalk View
6.10 or later, otherwise the import process will not succeed.Project and database names must be unique on any one computer. Do not attempt to import a project to a location on the same computer (on a different drive, for example) that already has a project with the same name.
To import an A.I.Series file, a Logic 5 text database file, or an RSLogix5/500 Address and Symbol ASCII file
- In the firstTag Import and Export Wizarddialog box, selectImport A.I. Seriesor Logic 5 database files, orImport RSLogix 5/500 Address & Symbol ASCII files, and then clickNext.
- Select the destinationFactoryTalk Viewproject you want to import into. TheProjecttype can be Machine Edition or Site Edition.
- Click the browse button to the right of theProjectbox to open theSelect Destination Projectwindow.
- In theSelect Destination Projectwindow, navigate to the destination project's location.
- Select the project and clickOpen.
- Select the application development file (*.med, or *.sed) and clickOpen.
- ClickNext.
- Select the symbol files you want to import, then clickNext.
- For Machine Edition applications, only tag data can be imported.
- For Site Edition applications, tag and alarm data can be imported.From theChoose the A.I. Series or Logic 5 Text Database Filedialog box, or theChoose the RSI Logix 5/500 Address and Symbol ASCII Filedialog box, you can accept the source file provided, type another path and file name, or click the browse button (...) to select a file, depending on the choice in Step 1.
- ClickNext.
- Specify the import options, then clickNext.
- Verify the import information and then clickFinish.
