Create a FactoryTalk View tag CSV file in Excel

You can create comma separated variables (CSV) files in Excel that you can import to
FactoryTalk View
.
To create a CSV file in Excel
  1. Open Excel and create a spreadsheet that has columns corresponding to the format for the CSV tag file.
  2. In the first row enter the following version string:
    ";###002 - THIS LINE CONTAINS VERSION INFORMATION. DO NOT REMOVE!!!"
  3. Enter folder and tag information in the columns as indicated by the headings.
  4. Save the spreadsheet in CSV format.
    TIP:
    If you want to put tags in folders, define the folders before you define the tags. The first section of the file contains the folder names. Use F (for folder) in the
    Tag Type
     column and type the Folder name in the Tag Name column. To put a tag in a folder, add the folder name to the tag name, and separate them with a backslash.
Example
This example shows the first four columns of a file with folders. The first tag is not in a folder; the second tag is in the Commands folder.
