Set permissions for alarm and event actions

To set security permissions for alarm and event servers and for actions initiated from alarm and event objects, such as the Alarm and Event Summary, use
FactoryTalk Administration Console
or
FactoryTalk View Studio
. Expand the
FactoryTalk
Explorer window and apply security settings to the appropriate application or area.
For example, to set security permissions for a particular alarm server, apply security to the application or area where the server resides. In the same way, to set security permissions for an alarm and event object such as the Alarm and Event Summary, apply security to the application or area where the HMI Server resides.
To set security permissions
  1. Run
    FactoryTalk Administration Console
and open a Network Directory or Local Directory. Or run
    FactoryTalk View Studio
    and open an application.
  2. Expand the
    FactoryTalk
Explorer window to the application or area where the server resides.
  3. Right-click the application or area, then and click
    Security
    .
  4. Because security settings are inherited down the tree, choose the application or area at the highest possible level in the tree. For example, if you apply security settings at an application level, those settings apply to all of the areas within that application. If you apply security settings to a particular area, the settings apply to only that area and to other areas contained within that area.
  5. Use the
    Security Settings
dialog box to set security permissions.
