Sub-organizations
You can create sub-organizations for every organization you manage.
Use the sub-organization feature if:
- you manage organizations with multiple subsidiaries and you want to have different sets of users, entitlements, and applications in each of them. You can manage a main organization and a sub-organization for each subsidiary.
- you are a Systems Integrator or an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) who wants to create a sub-organization for each customer to allocate the customer's entitlements and set up the applications needed for later transferring the corresponding sub-organization to the end customer when the project is completed.
After selecting a parent organization on the breadcrumb or selecting it from the
organizations page, you can access the sub-organizations page from the left menu.
The sub-organizations page provides the following functionalities:
- View all sub-organizations assigned to the parent. You can access a sub-organization you have access to by selecting it. A sub-organization adds another level to the breadcrumb and displays as the name of the sub-organization you are working on.
- Join sub-organizations you have no access to by selectingJoin. A request to join is sent to the sub-organization administrator.
- Create multiple sub-organizations under a parent organization if you are an administrator.
- Restore archived sub-organizations which you are an administrator for.
Roles and permissions
Permissions on a parent organization automatically grant access to all its child
sub-organizations.
If you do not have a role assigned in a parent organization, you only have access to
the sub-organization you are a member of, even if your sub-organization shares a
parent organization with other sub-organizations.
Permissions on a sub-organization and not on its parent organization limit access to
the sub-organization membership only.
