Licensing

Use this field to assign
FactoryTalk Historian
licenses to
FactoryTalk Historian
components. A
FactoryTalk Historian
server must be licensed before it can collect data points (tags) from a data server. This field displays the number and types of licenses (activations) available on the
FactoryTalk® Activation Manager
server.
TIP:
You must be a FactoryTalk administrator to change the server properties. After you change a license, it takes up to 20 minutes until the licenses are propagated to the server.
The following table shows the options under
Licensing
.
Option
Description
Activation
Defines the license type available on the FactoryTalk Activation server. For example, FTLD.500 and FHIST.1000.
This field cannot be changed.
Total
Defines the total number of licenses on the
FactoryTalk Activation Manager
server for that activation (license type). For example, if there are two copies of the FTLD.500 activation on the server, you will see the number 2 in the
Total
column.
This field cannot be changed.
In Use
Indicates the number of licenses that are currently used by other
FactoryTalk Historian SE
servers.
This field cannot be changed.
Assigned
Out of the total number of licenses available in the
FactoryTalk Activation Manager
server, defines the number of licenses assigned to the
FactoryTalk Historian
server. Continuing the previous example, if out of the two copies of the FTLD.500 licenses, only one is assigned to the
FactoryTalk Historian
server, it can collect up to 500 data points (tags) from the data server. If both copies are assigned to the server, it can collect up to 1000 data points (500 data points from each of the FTLD.500 licenses). If you want to assign a license, enter the number in the column.
