Modify a data collection interface

Perform the following steps to modify a data collection interface.
To modify a data collection interface
  1. Right-click the data interface you have created in the previous steps, for example,
    FTLD1
    , and then select
    Properties
    .
  2. In the
    FTLD1 Interface Properties
    dialog, view and change the values in the following table.
    Option
    Description
    Service status
    • Start service
      : Start the data collection service when the
      Service startup type
      selected is
      Manual
      . If the
      Service startup type
      is set to
      Automatic
      , it will start when the computer on which the data collection interface is installed starts. If the
      Service startup type
      is set to
      Disabled
      , this button will be unavailable.
    • Stop service
      : Stop the data collection service when the
      Service startup type
      selected is
      Manual
      . If the
      Service startup type
      is set to
      Automatic
      , it will start when the computer on which the data collection interface is installed stops. If the
      Service startup type
      is set to
      Disabled
      , this button will be unavailable.
    Interface type
    Displays the data collection interface.
    This field cannot be changed.
    Name
    Displays the interface name.
    This field cannot be changed.
    ID
    Displays the ID of the interface.
    This field cannot be changed.
    Description
    Update the descriptions of this interface.
    Computer hosting the interface
    Displays the computer name on which the data collection interface is installed.
    This field cannot be changed.
    Historian server
    Displays the
    FactoryTalk Historian SE
    server name.
    This field cannot be changed.
    Service startup type
    Specify how the data collection service will react when the computer on which the data collection interface is installed is turned on.
    • Automatic
      : (Default) The data collection service starts automatically when the computer starts.
    • Manual
      : The data collection service must be started manually.
    • Disabled
      : Helps prevent the system, the user, or any dependent service from starting the service.
    Launch Interface Configuration Utility
    Launch the PI Interface Configuration Utility. Use this utility to configure redundant interfaces, buffering, or disconnected startup. To learn more about the Interface Configuration Utility, select
    Help
    on the Interface Configuration Utility's main menu.
    Scan Class
    Enter a period
    : Specify a new period of the scan class.
    Remove scan class Remove the selected scan class.
    IMPORTANT:
    Deleting scan classes can adversely affect the operation of existing tags, which are closely related to scan rates for
    FactoryTalk Historian
    tags. Scan classes should be adjusted only by
    FactoryTalk Historian
    System Managers who are fully aware of the
    FactoryTalk Historian
    system configuration and the effects of any such changes.
  3. Select
    Apply
    to save the changes without closing the dialog or select
    OK
    to save the changes and close the dialog.
