Device Definition – Overview view parameters (5034-UB8)

The
Overview
view in the Device Definition dialog includes these parameters:
Parameter
Description
Device Type
Displays the device catalog number and type.
Name
Enter an IEC 61131 compliant device name.
Description
Enter the description of the device.
Slot
Specifies the slot number where the device resides.
Series
Specifies the series of the device.
Revision
Specifies the major and minor revisions of the device. The valid range for minor revision is 001...255.
Electronic Keying
Defines the electronic keying that is used for the device.
Electronic keying compares the device that is defined in the project to the installed device. If keying fails, a fault occurs.
Valid values include:
  • Exact Match
  • Compatible Module
  • Disable Keying
ATTENTION: Be cautious when using Disable Keying. If used incorrectly, this option can lead to personal injury or death, property damage, or economic loss. We strongly recommend that you do not use Disable Keying.
If you use Disable Keying, you must take full responsibility for understanding whether the device being used can fulfill the functional requirements of the application.

Connection
Sets the connection type or the communication format.
Available options are:
  • Data
  • Listen Only Data
MAOC Compatible Data
Specifies whether the data is compatible with Motion Arm Output Cam (MAOC) instruction.
If the data is not compatible with MAOC, you cannot use this module with MAOC instruction.
Some point assignment options are not available when Yes is selected.
