Device Definition dialog box - Overview view parameters

TIP:
  • The available parameters and values depend on the device being configured. Parameters and values that do not apply to the device are hidden.
  • These parameters appear shaded in Run mode.
Parameter
Description
Device type
Displays the type of device selected during device configuration.
Change type
Changes the device type and revision.
Name
Specifies the device name.
The name must be IEC_61131 compliant. If an invalid character is entered in this field or if the name exceeds 40 characters, the software ignores the character. You cannot change the name when online.
Description
Specifies the description for the device.
If the description exceeds the maximum length of 512 characters, the software ignores any extra characters.
Ethernet Address
Specifies the IP configuration for the device.
  • Private Network
    . Enter a value from 1 through 254.
  • IP Address
    . Enter a unique IP address to identify each node on the IP network.
  • Host Name
    . Enter a fully qualified domain name, such as

Series
Specifies the device series.
This parameter is not available when online.
Revision
Specifies the device revision. This value only displays the major revisions that are applicable to the selected device series.
  • Major revision = 1 or 2 (default)
  • Minor revision = 001…255
This parameter is not available when online.
Electronic keying
Specifies the electronic keying for the device. Electronic keying compares the device defined in your project to the installed device. If keying fails, a fault occurs.
Valid values include:
  • Compatible Module
  • Exact Match
  • Disable Keying

Points
Specifies the number of I/O channels to be configured. If you select 16, all the 16 channels must be configured. If you select 8, you have the option to configure only eight channels.
Valid values include:
  • 16
    (default)
  • 8
Connection
Determines these options for the configured device type:
  • Available input data and output data options
  • Type of data transferred between the device and controller
  • Generated tags when configuration is complete
Possible values include:
  • Data
    (default)
  • Listen Only Data
  • Data and Ethernet Status
  • Data with Events
  • Listen Only Data with Events
  • Data with Events and Ethernet Status
  • Scheduled Output
  • Scheduled Output and Ethernet Status
MAOC Compatible Data
Specifies whether the data is compatible with Motion Arm Output Cam (MAOC) instruction. If the data is not compatible with MAOC, you cannot use this device with MAOC instruction.
Possible values include:
  • No
    (default)
  • Yes
    (available only when
    Points
    is set to
    16
    ). Switches all channels to output.
This parameter applies to devices with major revision 2.
Timestamp
Specifies the timestamp point assignment.
  • Per Point
    (default). Enables timestamping for Digital Input, Timestamp only.
  • FIFO
    . Enables timestamping for Digital Input, FIFO only.
    Tip: This option is not available when

    Data with Events and Ethernet Status

    Listen Only Data with Events

  • None
    . Neither Digital Input, Timestamp, nor Digital Input, FIFO is enabled.
