Device Variables

Device Variables are direct or indirect process measurements performed by the HART Field Devices.

The most important direct or indirect process measurements are assigned to the Primary Variable (PV). Additional measurements can be read from the HART Field Device over the HART communication protocol. These additional measurements are mapped to the Secondary Variable (SV), Tertiary Variable (TV), and Fourth (Quarternary) Variable (FV).

The PV, SV, TV, and FV variables are collectively called Dynamic Variables.
