Notes
- This "Basic Module Information" is intended for quick access to some key attributes,and as an aid in locating more detailed information. When developing or troubleshooting an application, it is also important to read and follow the detailed module documentation provided by the vendor.

- Module Information page display error dialog when used with modules of serial number below 04110132. MSG instruction service types 'Device WHO' and 'Get Attribute Single' fail to return proper Product Name string length field with modules of serial number below 04110132. (see) for more details.
Function
The Advanced Micro Controls Inc. 3401 and 3401L modules are one-axis stepper controller that occupies one slot in a Point I/O system. These units receives motion profile data from the Logix controller and output step and direction signals or clockwise/counterclockwise pulses to a stepper driver. Discrete sinking inputs on the module allow for Homing, and Limit Switch operations.
System Interface

Status bits and the current position are located in the 16 bit Input tags. The 16 bit Output tags are used both to configure and to send move profile commands to the module. Absolute Moves, Relative Moves, Home Moves, Manual Moves (jog), and Blend Moves are available.
Field Interface
The input connector consists of the 8 pin Removable Terminal Block with the Rockwell Automation Part Numbers 1734-RTB. The terminal block
is not supplied

3401L Stepper Output Specifications

- An external supply is required for operation
3401 & 3401L Input Specifications
- Open Collector Sinking, Single Ended
- Two inputs, Home and Limit. The Limit Input can be configured to be a CW Limit, a CCW Limit, or an Emergency Stop Input.
- Both inputs share a common return
- ON Voltage Range: 8Vdc to 24Vdc
- OFF Voltage Range: 0Vdc to 2Vdc
- Maximum Input Current: 15mA @24Vdc
- An external supply is required for operation
Power
Backplane power consumption is 85mA from the 5Vdc bus.
A maximum of five (5) 3401 or 3401L modules can be used in a Point I/O system. Additional 3401 or 3401L modules can be added with the use of a 1734-EP24DC power supply.
