Challenge

In traditional wiring work, workers have to spend considerable time and focus on accurately interpreting wiring diagrams and identifying wire numbers and installation points. This was especially true for complex control panels, where misreading diagrams and wiring errors were common. Preventing such mistakes requires a high level of concentration and extensive experience. To avoid errors, workers needed to proceed step by step using wiring tools and wire markers at each stage, which ultimately led to significant time being spent on the entire process.

Solution

To address these challenges, Shinsei Kogyosha, a gold system integrator member of the Rockwell Automation PartnerNetwork™ Program, implemented an EtherNet/IP In-cabinet wiring solution. By adopting a Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) method — which enables simultaneous transmission of data and power through a single cable — the company was able to significantly streamline the wiring process while maintaining equal or greater levels of information and functionality across the entire control panel. With this new solution in place, previously complex wiring tasks can now be performed more intuitively and in less time. 

Result

The implementation of the EtherNet/IP In-cabinet wiring solution has significantly streamlined panel design and deployment. Notably, substantial time savings have been achieved across key project phases, including wiring, testing, and engineering. Specifically, wiring time for control circuits was reduced by up to 95%, testing time by up to 50%, and project design time by up to 30%. These figures are based on a hands-on evaluation conducted at Shinsei Kogyosha in June 2024, comparing traditional wiring methods with the EtherNet/IP solution.

These strong improvements in efficiency have led to simultaneous gains in on-site productivity and cost reduction, while also contributing to shorter delivery timelines and enhanced product quality.
