Hysteresis Detection and Configuration
Physical vibration can cause an encoder to generate pulses that you do not wish to
consider as valid motion. Hysteresis On and Off values are used to eliminate some pulses
in either direction as vibration-generated.
You can use the following tags to set the hysteresis values:
- O.Windowxx.HysteresisOn
- O.Windowxx.HysteresisOff
IMPORTANT:
Remember the following:
- If a tag value is < 0, hysteresis is disabled.
- Hysteresis does not apply to Windows configured for Pulse Width mode.
Hysteresis is not used to alter actual count values.
Hysteresis Behavior when O.Windowxx.On < O.Windowxx.Off
The following figure shows a window with hysteresis as the source of the window
varies near the window switching points when
O.Windowxx.On
<
O.Windowxx.Off
.Hysteresis Example 1 – Source of Window Varies Near Window Switching
Points (O.Windowxx.On < O.Windowxx.Off)
The following figure also show a window with hysteresis when
O.Windowxx.On
< O.Windowxx.Off
. However, the source of the window, that is, count,
frequency, or acceleration varies beyond the hysteresis at the window switching
points.Hysteresis Example 2 – Source of Window Varies Beyond Hysteries at Window
Switching Points (O.Windowxx.On < O.Windowxx.Off)
Hysteresis Behavior when O.Windowxx.On > O.Windowxx.Off
The following example shows a window with hysteresis as the source of the window
varies near the window switching points when
O.Windowxx.On
>
O.Windowxx.Off
.Hysteresis Example 3 – Source of Window Varies Near Window Switching
Points (O.Windowxx.On > O.Windowxx.Off)
The following example also show a window with hysteresis when
O.Windowxx.On
>
O.Windowxx.Off
. However, the source of the window, that is, count,
frequency, or acceleration varies beyond the hysteresis at the window switching
points.Hysteresis Example 4 – Source of Window Varies Beyond Hysteries at Window
Switching Points (O.Windowxx.On > O.Windowxx.Off)
