Creating or editing Cams and Cam Profiles
To create or edit a cam or cam profile:
- To create a cam or cam profile, selectInsert Point
or type cam point coordinates in the Master and Slave columns on the right side of the Cam Editor. - To edit an existing cam or cam profile:
- Select the point to change, hold down the left mouse button, and drag the point to its new location.
- Type new values in theMasterandSlavecolumns on the right side of the Cam Editor.TIP:
- If you double-clickInsert Point, the editor stays in insert mode and the button remains pressed until you click it again. This allows you to easily insert multiple cam elements without having to repeatedly clickInsert Point.
- You can enter Master cam points out of order; however, if you attempt to apply cam points that are out of order, you will receive an Entry out of Range message. To sort out of order entries, double click theMastercolumn header.
- After you enter the cam points, you can alternate between linear and cubic views by first selecting a region of the cam profile and then clicking on eitherlinear
or cubic
, or by selecting linearorcubicfrom the menus next to each cam point. - After you enter the cam points, you can select or deselect position
, velocity
, acceleration
, and jerk
to individually control zooming and scrolling functions.To access edit functions and theGraph Propertiesdialog, click in the graph view. Use Graph Properties to adjust color, visibility, width, style, marker, and other properties.
Accessing the Cam Editor dialog
Access the
Cam Editor
dialog from the Tag Editor:- Right-click a CAM, CAM_EXTENDED, CAM_PROFILE, or CAM_PROFILE_EXTENDED data type and selectGo to > Configure.
- Right-click a CAM, CAM_EXTENDED, CAM_PROFILE, or CAM_PROFILE_EXTENDED data type and selectConfigure[data type].TIP: CAM_EXTENDED and CAM_PROFILE_EXTENDED data types are supported on Compact GuardLogix 5580 and CompactLogix 5380 controllers only.
