Functional changes
Logix Designer version 38.00 has these changes in functionality since the last release.
Who Active browser is renamed Network Browser
The dialog you use to configure network connectivity is now titled Network Browser. Refer to
the Logix Designer online help for more information:
RSLinx Classic no longer supported and is not installed
RSLinx Classic is no longer supported and is not installed with this version of the Logix
Designer application. FactoryTalk Linx communication software is included with the Logix
Designer application.
No longer supporting CompactLogix 5480 controllers
This version of the Logix Designer application no longer supports CompactLogix 5480
controllers.
Add-on profiles for many discontinued devices removed from this release
Add-on profiles for many discontinued devices have been removed in this release. To install
these profiles on your workstation, use Logix Designer version 37.01 (recommended), or
download and install the individual add-on profile installers. Both options are available on
the Rockwell Automation Product Compatibility and Download Center
(PCDC).
NOTE:
Installing Logix Designer does not remove any installed add-on
profiles from your workstation.
EDS files for discontinued products are not installed
In this version of the Logix Designer application, EDS files for products with the lifecycle
state of discontinued are no longerinstalled. To add EDS files for a discontinued product to
your workstation, download the
EDS all Rockwell Automation
legacy file from the Rockwell Automation Product Compatibility and Download Center
(PCDC). Import the EDS files into the Device Description Installation tool.New minimum length of 8 characters for source keys
In this version of the Logix Designer application, source keys must contain a minimum of 8
and maximum of 40 characters. In earlier releases, there was no required minimum length.
“=>” and “=<” not valid in versions 38 and later
For projects that contain “=>” and “=<” to indicate greater-than-or-equal-to and
less-than-or-equal-to, Logix Designer versions 38 and later indicate that these symbol
combinations are not valid.
The standard symbol combinations “<=” and “>=” are supported as valid.
Import/Export
The Import/Export version number for this version of the Logix Designer application is 2.29.
The table lists the Import/Export versions for previous releases.
