Rockwell Automation launches Customer Experience Centre to help ANZ businesses achieve trillion-dollar potential of Industry 4.0

Melbourne-based centre will inspire business leaders to think big around how automation can elevate productivity and customer experience

MELBOURNE, February 2019 – Rockwell Automation, Inc. today announced the launch of its first Customer Experience Centre in Australia, a state-of-the-art, collaborative hub, designed to inform and inspire Australian businesses about creative ways to spark productivity gains using automation.

“This is a hugely exciting time for a whole range of industries who stand to unlock trillions of dollars in value over the next decade as a result of rapid advancements in automation technology. It’s also a complex moment, when leaders have an exceptional number of decisions to make about how and where to invest their resources to achieve the best results. We’re inviting businesses across Australia and New Zealand to come and get inspired and informed on what the future could look like and how to get there,” said Gordon Bartlett, Technical Engagement Manager for South Pacific, and Customer Experience Centre lead, Rockwell Automation.

The centre, based in the South Pacific headquarters of Rockwell Automation, in Melbourne is a $500k investment and opening at a time when Australia has the potential to reap $1.2 trillion in productivity-related national income gains from automation, if done right.

“In Australia we’re seeing a growing number of pilot projects around industrial IoT, but the majority of businesses are still trying to figure out how to apply it on a large scale. A lot remains on the table. For those who can identify meaningful ways to apply these technologies in their environment, the opportunities for value creation are enormous. Automation can help companies unlock new business models, productivity, and add substantial value to existing products and services,” said Adrian Giecco, Business Manager, Architecture & Software, Rockwell Automation.

Consultancy Bain & Company has predicted that Australian manufacturers are particularly well-suited to benefit from automation, with technology poised to drive lead a revival of manufacturing lost to countries with lower labour costs.

A team of Rockwell Automation domain experts will be on hand at the Customer Experience Centre to demonstrate the transformative potential of the Connected Enterprise. Experts will use real-world examples, based on anonymised Rockwell Automation customer interactions.

“The Customer Experience Centre will bring to life the ways that businesses in Australia and New Zealand can ride this wave known as Industry 4.0. Rather than a product centric approach, the purpose of the Customer Experience Centre is to generate discussion and ideas,” said Bartlett.

As an example, a visitor could experience a scenario showcasing how a business could fix problems faster and with less disruption to production by combining data on machinery faults, production commitments, and availability of parts, with insights into how long it would take a technician to fix the problem with the support of augmented reality.

The Customer Experience Centre supplements the Singapore Customer Briefing and Competency Centre, which Rockwell Automation opened in April 2018. Businesses interested in visiting the Rockwell Automation Customer Experience Centre should contact their Rockwell Automation account manager.
